Frequently Asked Questions
  • Does registration fee include a uniform?: Yes, your registration fee will include a uniform. No other fees will be collected during the regular league season.
  • Do you have a sibling dscount?: Yes, $20 will be automatically subtracted from the registration fee for each sibling. This applies to both early and regular registration.
  • Can I register if I'm from out of area?: League registration is open ONLY to those students who attend Herbert Hoover feeder schools or live in our attendance area and attend private/home school.
  • What does it cost to get into games?: Thanks to support from team sponsors we do not charge admission to anyone for regular season games. We are one of very few community leagues that provide free admission to spectators.
  • How will my child be placed on a team?: Players will be selected for teams based on a draft process conducted by the coaches.
  • What if I have multiple kids?: If you have multiple children in the same age division they will be drafted onto the same team. If they're in different age divisions they will placed on different teams.
  • When does practice start?: An evaluation/draft will take place in early October. Practice will begin soon thereafter at the discretion of each coach.
  • Where is practice?: One hour a week of practice time will be allotted per team at Elkview Baptist Church. Any other practices/venues are at the discretion of each coach.
  • Where are games played?: Games for all age divisions will be played primarily at the new Herbert Hoover High School. Elkview Middle and/or the old Clendenin Middle School may be utilized if Herbert Hoover is unavailable.
  • What if I want my child to "play up?": If you want your child to play in a division up from the grade they're in you will need to choose that grade level at registration. No child will be permitted to "play down."
  • Information about the K-2 Division: The K-2 Division will play on Saturdays only. They will play on lowered 8.5 foot rims.
  • Do I need to purchase a basketball?: It is recommended that all kids have a basketball for practices. We will use a size 28.5 (women's) basketball for all divisions.
  • Is this league affiliated with KCS?: Our league is not endorsed by or affiliated with Kanawha County Schools.
